I’m a committed Christian; my commitment is reflected in my working as a church leader for 5 years & starting a charity to support persecuted Christians under Communist regimes, and in my passion to bring about positive practical changes in the lives of ordinary people. I believe that the core Christian values of truthfulness, fairness & considering the needs of others, are not only core values to live by, but also important principles for public representatives to hold. Such values have underpinned my charity work; my university teaching roles in Romania and my pursuit of criminal justice reform, pioneering drug rehabilitation and social care.

I am not a career-politician but my international work has convinced me that a person with strong values, determination & visionary ideas can make a huge difference in the lives of individuals & communities. I have not been afraid to speak out or act and I will continue to stay independently-minded and campaign for local and national issues, even when it is something we may not want to hear!

I’m proud that the Labour government vigourously pursued justice issues like clearing Third-World debt and increasing foreign aid.

"Policies and proposals of governments can have profound affects on the lives of individuals for good or ill. I believe it is important that decision-makers take into full consideration the impact of their decisions not just in terms of the economy, but also the environment, social & leisure facilities, and the individual lives of people within the local community"
